Description
This easy homemade slow cooker peach butter is a delightful spread that captures the sweetness of summer peaches. Perfect for breakfast or as a topping for desserts, it’s simple to make with minimal effort.
Ingredients
4 cups peeled and chopped fresh peaches
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Prepare the Peaches: Peel and chop the fresh peaches, discarding the pits. You should have about 4 cups of chopped peaches.
Combine Ingredients: In the slow cooker, combine the chopped peaches with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
Cook the Mixture: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the peaches are soft and the mixture has thickened.
Blend the Butter: Once cooked, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth. If you don’t have an immersion blender, you can transfer the mixture in batches to a regular blender.
Cool and Store: Allow the peach butter to cool before transferring it to airtight containers. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
Notes
This peach butter is versatile; you can adjust the sugar based on the sweetness of the peaches. It also pairs wonderfully with other spices like ginger or cloves for added flavor.
