Description
This easy fried cabbage recipe combines tender cabbage with crispy bacon for a comforting one-pan meal. Perfect as a side dish or a main course, it’s budget-friendly and full of flavor.
Ingredients
1 medium head green cabbage, chopped
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 medium onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup chicken broth
Instructions
Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
Sauté the Onion: In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
Add Garlic and Cabbage: Stir in the minced garlic and chopped cabbage. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
Season the Cabbage: Add the salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
Finish with Bacon: Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use olive oil instead. You can also add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for added flavor and nutrition.
