Description

A moist, tender Bundt cake made with sour cream, butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and semisweet chocolate chips. It is an easy homemade dessert with chocolate chips throughout every slice.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened, plus more for greasing the pan

1 1/2 cups (300 g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100 g) packed light brown sugar

4 large eggs, room temperature

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon fine salt

1 cup (240 g) full-fat sour cream, room temperature

1 1/2 cups (255 g) semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Prepare the Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Thoroughly grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan, coating the ridges and center tube.

Cream Butter: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes.

Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Batter: Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in alternating additions with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.

Fold Chocolate: Toss the chocolate chips with about 1 tablespoon of the flour mixture, then gently fold them into the batter until evenly distributed.

Fill Pan: Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top.

Bake Cake: Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the thickest part comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs attached.

Cool Cake: Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then carefully turn it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature butter, eggs, and sour cream. Full-fat sour cream provides the richest texture. Tossing the chocolate chips with flour helps distribute them through the batter. Store the cooled cake tightly covered at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Freeze well-wrapped cake for up to 2 months.
